Our president ran on a unifying platform, and a little over a year in to his presidency, we are as divided as we have ever been in my lifetime. As for his books, I'm almost 50 now. Statistically speaking, my life is probably more than half over. I don't want to spend any of the hours I have left reading his books. He has nothing to teach, no knowledge to impart to me. (It also happens that I don't generally read political books for a number of other reasons.) I have enjoyed our -email chats, but I will not continue in this public venue. This is your blog, and I don't wish to clutter it up with my opinions. So on this, I will let you have the last word. I'll send you an e-mail. Look for it. Take care, all. I have not read his books. And I won't read them. There is audacity in a man his age, whose only real accomplishments have been running for office and writing two books about (what else?) himself. And I won't read anything he has written about race. Not with what I know about the "church" he attended, the "pastor" who inspires him, and his comments about the Cambridge incident.
